I am currently a sophomore at Indiana University hoping to get my Elementary Education license and Special Education license through the TAL program at Indiana University. I graduated from Speedway High School in Speedway, Indiana with an academic honors diploma on May, 25th 2017. In Speedway, I was part of the school's Key Club, Drama department, and choral department. I also spent a large chunk of my time volunteering at my church in the children's division. I am very passionate about education, music, and volunteering. I plan to incorporate all of this into my future classroom. I plan on being an Elementary Education teacher and I wish to teach 2nd or 3rd grade.
I have always been passionate about becoming a teacher. You have to have that passion to be successful as a teacher. When I receive my degree, I will be a third generation teacher, which is something I am very proud of.
This is my e portfolio where you can find information about my teaching beliefs, accomplishments, and examples of how I will integrate technology into my teaching. My pedagogical beliefs as a teacher include not only being able to successfully teach the content but to also inspire kids to make a difference in our world. I aspire to teach because I want every student who passes through my classroom to love learning and never give up if they lose that passion to learn. In my freshman year, I decided to change my major from just Elementary Education to the TAL program at Indiana University because I want to be able to teach all my students, even those with disabilities. I also love to travel and believe bringing in cultures from other parts of the world is an imperative part of learning in today's society.
My beliefs regarding technology in the classroom include that when used appropriately it is a good tool that should help the student's learning ability not harm it. We live in a tech heavy world and we need to incorporate that into our classrooms but we should be aware of the technology and know how to use the technology well enough so we don't harm the children's ability to learn. We also need to be aware of the problems that come with technology use, such as cyber bullying and student's digital footprints and know how to combat those issues.
